Album work is the front and the back of an album packaging of a product or album.
The style of my album artwork is likely to be experimental or photographic as I want it to mirror the bands and the genre.
| Photo based album cover |
Both styles of album artwork shows that the artist and album belong to the pop rock genre.
Below are five examples of experimental and photographic album artworks.
Fall out boys and The vamps both have a sense of a photographic style in their artwork. Having the band at the front of the cover allows the audience to know who they are and it also sells the band itself.
Green Day and Blink 182 have a more experimental album. Instead of having the band on the front cover they just have the band name and album name.
5 seconds of summer’s album cover is both experimental and photographic as the graphic font of their name is the main focus but you can also see the band members on the bottom and the side.
Parental Advisory - This is advising listeners that they should be aware that some of the content may be offensive .
Name of band - to let people know who the band is
Name of album
Legal info
Number of the track list - so people know the songs that are in this album
Bar code - to show that it is a product that can be bought
The conventions for pop rock are a wide shot of the band, a simple colour scheme ( most likely black, white and red to reflect the rock genre , band name, album name, doodles, graffiti and tracklist.
Having done research into the design links to the campaign as creating a digipak that mirrors the bands genre and personality attracts an audience that want to follow the band. Because their music and everything they create is meant to mirror the image created for them, creating a digipak attracts a wider audience which means that they get more money as well.
Because this is a campaign to link the social media, video and artwork together I will add an element from the video into both the social media and the art work to show that they are all part of the same campaign.
